Purpose and Compatibility

This ribbon cable is the dedicated interconnect for the fingerprint reader module inside the Dell Latitude 14 Rugged Extreme 7404. It links the sensor to the USH junction board so the biometric subsystem can function. The part is intended for technicians or owners repairing that specific laptop model. It will not fit other Latitude models or non-Rugged chassis.

Interface Constraints

The cable uses a proprietary flex layout defined for the 7404 platform and carries only the signals required by the fingerprint reader. Length, pin count and keying are fixed by the original design, so the part cannot be substituted with a generic ribbon. No other peripheral or board connects through this cable.

Installation requires opening the ruggedised chassis and routing the thin flex through the existing retention clips, so care is needed to avoid creasing the conductors.
