Genuine Dell Latitude 2100 palmrest
This genuine Dell replacement palmrest assembly fits the Latitude 2100 notebook. It includes the touchpad, touchpad circuitry, power button LED board and media control button board. The part arrives new and carries Dell part number U440N. Screws are not supplied.
Passive component no thermals
The assembly contains no active cooling or power-drawing circuitry of its own. It adds no audible noise and creates no measurable thermal load during normal operation. Power consumption is limited to the touchpad sensor and LED indicators.
OEM plastic chassis mounting
The palmrest moulds to the Latitude 2100 chassis and aligns with the existing screw posts. Missing screws must be sourced separately before installation. Connector ribbons for the touchpad, power button and media controls seat directly into the motherboard headers.

Questions about this item
How do I install the U440N palmrest assembly on my Latitude 2100, and what step is often missed?
Align the assembly with the chassis, connect the touchpad, power button LED, and media control board ribbons, then secure it. The step often missed is sourcing and using the correct screws, which are not included.
Which parts of the U440N assembly will need replacement after heavy daily use?
The touchpad surface and click mechanism wear first. The power button LED board and media control button board can also fail independently, requiring a full assembly swap since they are integrated.
What is the first limitation I will hit when using the touchpad continuously for long sessions?
The integrated touchpad circuitry and physical click mechanism are the first limits under sustained use; they can overheat or lose tactile response before the LED or media boards show issues.
