14-inch business laptop for office work

The Dell Latitude 3000 3450 is a 14.0-inch notebook built for everyday business tasks. It runs Windows 10 Pro 64-bit on a 1.7 GHz Intel Core i3-4005U dual-core processor with 3 MB L3 cache. The 16 GB DDR3 memory and 500 GB 2.5-inch SATA HDD provide capacity for documents and local files. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 drives the 1366 x 768 HD LED display.

Fanless profile and modest power draw

The low-voltage i3-4005U keeps thermal output limited during typical office workloads such as email, web browsing and document editing. The integrated graphics share system memory, avoiding a separate GPU heat source. In normal use the cooling fan runs at low speed, so acoustic output stays quiet in meeting rooms or open-plan offices. Power consumption remains modest, supporting reasonable battery endurance for mobile days.

Grey chassis with legacy and modern video ports

The grey non-touch chassis includes both HDMI and VGA outputs, allowing connection to modern monitors or older projectors without adapters. A built-in webcam supports video calls, while the optical DVD-RW drive handles legacy media. The 2.5-inch SATA bay allows future storage upgrades, though the mechanical hard drive means slower boot and load times compared with solid-state alternatives. Buyers needing faster storage response or a touchscreen should consider other models.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 16 GB DDR3 RAM in the Latitude 3450, and which step do people often get wrong?

The 16 GB DDR3 memory is already installed at the factory; no user installation is required. If you ever open the memory door, the common mistake is not pressing both ends of the module down until the retention clips click fully into place.

What maintenance or replacement will the 2.5 500 GB SATA hard drive need later?

The 2.5-inch 500 GB SATA HDD is a mechanical drive that can develop bad sectors or fail over time; plan to replace it with another 2.5-inch SATA drive and reinstall Windows 10 Pro 64-bit when SMART warnings appear or performance degrades.

What limit shows up first on the Intel HD Graphics 5500 under sustained load?

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 shares system memory and has no dedicated VRAM, so thermal throttling on the i3-4005U package is the first limit during prolonged 3D or video workloads, reducing clock speeds to manage heat.
