Genuine Dell OEM touchpad ribbon cable (CPFW1) connects the touchpad on Latitude 3189, 3180 and 3190 laptops
This genuine Dell OEM ribbon cable connects the touchpad assembly in compatible Latitude laptops. It is a direct replacement part for the internal flex circuit that links the touchpad to the motherboard. The part number CPFW1 ensures correct fitment for the listed models.
As a passive ribbon cable, it draws no power and generates no heat or noise during operation. It simply transmits touchpad signals between the input device and the system board. Normal use involves no thermal load or acoustic signature from this component.
This cable replaces a torn, creased or oxidised original flex that causes erratic cursor movement or total touchpad failure. The repair is worthwhile when the touchpad stops responding but the controller and surface remain intact. It is not for buyers who need a complete touchpad assembly or a different laptop interface.

Power off the laptop and disconnect the battery. Open the chassis, locate the touchpad assembly, and gently lift the ZIF connector latch before inserting the CPFW1 cable with the contacts facing down. The step most people get wrong is forcing the cable in before the latch is fully open, which bends the delicate pins.
The CPFW1 cable itself requires no scheduled maintenance. It should only be replaced if the touchpad becomes unresponsive or intermittent due to physical wear, repeated flexing from hinge movement, or connector corrosion.
The first limit is usually mechanical fatigue at the fold points where the cable flexes each time the lid opens and closes, leading to intermittent touchpad signals before a complete loss of function.
