Palmrest and touchpad assembly for Latitude 5289 and 7389 2-in-1 laptops without a smart card reader
This genuine Dell palmrest touchpad assembly is designed for Latitude 5289 and 7389 2-in-1 laptops that lack a smart card reader. It includes the touchpad module TKV0Y and mouse buttons A167QF. Technicians repairing a damaged top case or replacing a faulty input surface will use this part. It is not compatible with models equipped with the optional smart card reader.
The assembly fits only the Latitude 5289 2-in-1 and Latitude 7389 2-in-1 when those systems were built without a smart card reader. Installing it on a unit that has the reader will leave the reader cut-out uncovered and the smart card function unsupported. Verify the original configuration before ordering to avoid a mismatch.
Installation involves removing the keyboard, battery, motherboard and display hinges to swap the entire palmrest chassis. The included touchpad module and buttons are pre-fitted, so no separate cable routing is needed. Common issues are damaging the fragile keyboard ribbon cable during removal or forgetting to transfer the fingerprint reader board if the original unit had one.

This assembly fits the Latitude 5289 2-in-1 and Latitude 7389 2-in-1, but only on units that do not have the optional Smart Card Reader installed.
The TKV0Y touchpad module restores full cursor control and multi-touch gesture support exactly as the original factory component did.
The A167QF mouse buttons are the physical click mechanisms integrated into the palmrest; they are listed to confirm the complete assembly includes both the touchpad sensor and its click hardware.
