Fits Latitudes Without Fingerprint Reader

This cover suits owners of the listed Latitude models who need a replacement for a non-fingerprint configuration. Buyers whose systems include the optional fingerprint reader must look elsewhere because this part lacks the necessary cutout and sensor window.

The Dell part number 8W7TH is the single identifier that guarantees compatibility with Latitude 5420, 5421 and 5430 units built without a fingerprint reader. Verify this number against your service tag or parts list before ordering.

Questions about this item

Does this cover work on a Latitude 5420 that has a fingerprint reader built into the power button?

No, the part is made for models without the fingerprint reader; using it on a system that has one would leave the sensor exposed or misaligned.

What Dell part number is moulded on the cover so I can match it to my service manual?

The cover carries Dell part number 8W7TH, which appears in the Latitude 5420, 5421 and 5430 service documentation.

Is the cover a snap-on piece or does it need screws to stay in place?

It snaps into the chassis cut-out; no screws or adhesive are required for installation.
