Latitude 5480 for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 5480 is a 14.0-inch laptop built around an Intel Core i7 7th Gen processor running at 2.80GHz. It ships with 32GB of memory and a 128GB SSD. Windows 10 Pro comes pre-installed with a hard-disk-based recovery image. The non-touch display offers a 1366 x 768 resolution.

Thermals and power in daily work

Integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 handles visual output without a discrete GPU, keeping heat and noise lower than dedicated-graphics alternatives. The 128GB solid-state drive has no moving parts, reducing acoustic output during file access. Power draw scales with the 2.80GHz CPU and 32GB memory configuration under typical office loads.

What the bundled items change

Windows 10 Pro enables domain join, BitLocker and remote desktop for managed environments. The recovery image stored on the drive allows a clean OS restore without external media. 32GB of installed RAM across two slots leaves no free sockets for further expansion. The 128GB SSD capacity may range between 120GB and 128GB in practice.

Questions about this item

How do I add more RAM to the 5480, and which slot do people forget to fill first?

The laptop has two memory slots holding the 32GB total; the lower slot under the keyboard is often missed, so remove the bottom cover, insert the module at an angle, then press down until the clips click.

Which part of the 5480 will need replacement first after heavy daily use?

The 128GB M.2 SSD has a limited write endurance, so plan to swap it for a larger drive once the 120GB to 128GB usable space fills or wear indicators appear.

What thermal limit appears first when the Core i7 2.80GHz runs sustained loads?

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 shares the same heat pipe as the CPU, so the 14.0-inch chassis hits its thermal ceiling and throttles both processor and graphics together.
