Compact business laptop

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 12.5 inch laptop built for mobile professionals who need a durable, lightweight machine. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i5-7300U processor with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB SSD. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 handles everyday visual tasks on the 1366 x 768 anti-glare display.

Suits travellers; not for heavy workloads

This configuration suits frequent travellers and office workers who value portability and a rugged carbon-fibre reinforced chassis. The 12.5 inch form factor fits easily on tray tables and in small bags. Buyers who need more than 8 GB of memory for virtualisation, or who require a dedicated graphics engine for rendering, should consider a different system.

256 GB SSD and 32 GB memory ceiling

The installed 256 GB solid-state drive provides fast boot and application load times, while the two memory slots support a maximum of 32 GB DDR4. This upgrade ceiling determines whether the laptop can grow with future workload demands.
