Dell Latitude 5490 business laptop

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 14.0" business laptop built around an Intel Core i5-8350U processor running at 1.7 GHz. It comes with 8GB of DDR4 memory and a 512GB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. The HD display delivers a 1366 x 768 resolution, while Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles visual output. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed.

Upgrade from slower storage and less memory

Replacing a traditional hard drive with the 512GB NVMe SSD cuts boot and application load times dramatically. Moving from 4GB to 8GB of DDR4 allows smoother multitasking with office suites and browser tabs. The jump is worth it when daily workflow involves several programs open simultaneously or when large files must be accessed quickly.

Limits of the integrated graphics and display

Intel UHD Graphics 620 is designed for desktop productivity and video playback, not for 3D rendering or modern gaming titles. The 1366 x 768 panel provides basic clarity but lacks the pixel density of higher-resolution screens. Buyers who need colour-accurate work or GPU-accelerated compute should consider a different device.
