Business-ready 14-inch laptop with 16 GB DDR4

The Dell Latitude 5490 pairs an Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor at 1.7 GHz with 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 128 GB M.2 SATA SSD. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed. The 14.0-inch HD display runs at 1366 x 768 resolution and uses integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620. It is aimed at mobile professionals who need a compact, managed device for office applications and video calls.

Charger and battery included for immediate

The box contains the laptop, its charger and the internal battery so the system can be powered and used straight away. No optical drive is fitted, keeping the chassis thin and light. A built-in webcam supports conferencing without extra peripherals. The 15 W processor helps extend battery runtime during travel or client meetings.

HDMI and USB-C DisplayPort drive external screens

One HDMI port and one USB-C port with DisplayPort alternate mode let you connect projectors or monitors for presentations. Three USB 3.0 ports and a Gigabit Ethernet jack handle wired peripherals and network links. Wireless connectivity is provided by 802.11n or better. The 128 GB M.2 SATA SSD limits local storage capacity for large media libraries or heavy datasets.

Questions about this item

How long will the 128GB M.2 SATA SSD last before it needs replacing?

The 128GB M.2 SATA SSD has no moving parts and is rated for typical client workloads; lifespan depends on how much data you write each day.

What limits performance first when the Intel Core i5-8350U runs at full load for a long period?

The 15W power envelope of the i5-8350U causes the processor to throttle clocks once the cooling solution reaches its thermal capacity.

How loud and hot does the laptop get when it runs all day on the 15W quad-core processor?

Under sustained load the fan becomes audible and the chassis warms noticeably, but the 15W design keeps both within comfortable office levels.
