14-inch business laptop

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 14-inch laptop built for everyday office work. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i5-8350U processor with four cores and 1.70 GHz base clock. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 non-touch display. The system includes 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 128 GB M.2 SATA SSD.

Suits mobile professionals.

This configuration suits mobile professionals who need a lightweight machine for document editing, web apps and video calls. The 14.0-inch form factor keeps the bag light. Buyers who want more storage capacity for large media libraries or project archives should look at a different specification. The integrated graphics also limit 3D rendering and modern gaming workloads.

128 GB M.2 SATA SSD decides fit

The single specification that decides fit is the 128 GB M.2 SATA SSD. It provides fast boot and application launch compared with a hard drive, yet the modest capacity fills quickly with offline files. Verify that your workflow fits within this space or that you rely on cloud or network storage before purchasing.

Questions about this item

Will the 14.0-inch FHD display and Intel UHD Graphics 620 handle a second 1920 x 1080 monitor over HDMI?

Yes, the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 supports dual-display output so you can drive the built-in 1920 x 1080 panel and an external 1080p screen simultaneously over the HDMI port.

How can I verify the 16GB DDR4 memory and 128GB M.2 SATA SSD are recognised after first boot?

Open Task Manager’s Performance tab or the System Information tool in Windows 10 Pro; both will show 16 GB of DDR4 RAM and a 128 GB M.2 SATA solid-state drive as installed hardware.

Does the package include the AC adapter or must I source one separately?

The laptop ships with a functional AC adapter — either a new third-party unit or an OEM used one — so no separate power supply purchase is required.
