Ready for business travel

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 14.0-inch laptop built for mobile professionals who need a reliable Windows 10 Pro machine. It ships new with an Intel Core i5-8350U processor running at 1.7GHz, 32GB of memory and a 512GB solid-state drive. Wireless connectivity and a webcam are included for remote collaboration.

Fresh software and power kit

Each unit arrives with a brand-new Windows 10 Pro installation so there is no legacy bloat to remove. A tested battery and an AC adapter are supplied, letting you work away from a desk immediately. The supplier’s 90-day warranty covers the hardware after its functionality checks.

Suits office workloads not heavy creative tasks

This configuration handles document suites, browser-based apps and video calls smoothly thanks to its generous 32GB of RAM. Buyers who need discrete graphics for rendering, gaming or colour-critical design work should look at a workstation-class alternative. The 512GB drive also limits local storage for large media libraries.

Questions about this item

Is the 512 GB SSD user-replaceable on the Latitude 5490?

The 512 GB SSD can be swapped for a larger drive using standard tools; no soldered storage is present on this model.

What limits sustained performance on the i5-8350U in this 14.0" chassis?

The dual-core 1.7 GHz processor and integrated graphics hit thermal limits before the 32 GB RAM or 512 GB SSD become bottlenecks.

How loud and hot does the Latitude 5490 get during all-day workloads?

Fan noise stays at office-friendly levels; the chassis warms noticeably above the keyboard but remains within normal business-laptop temperatures.
