Business travel companion

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 14-inch laptop built for professionals who need reliable performance on the move. An Intel Core i7-8650U processor with four cores and eight threads handles office workloads and multitasking smoothly. 16GB of DDR4 memory and a 1TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD provide fast storage and responsive application switching. Windows 10 Pro x64 comes pre-installed.

Ports and connectivity check

Verify that your existing peripherals match the available ports: three USB 3.0 Type-A ports, one USB-C port with DisplayPort alternate mode, one HDMI port and one VGA port. Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11n wireless are built in for wired and wireless networks. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the internal 1920 x 1080 panel and external displays without a discrete GPU.

Upgrade perspective

This unit replaces an older business notebook that lacks a quad-core processor, NVMe storage or a USB-C video output. The jump is worth it when faster boot times, quicker file access and a modern port mix improve daily productivity. Buyers who need a dedicated graphics card, a touchscreen display or a newer Wi-Fi standard should consider a different configuration.
