Built for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 14.0-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor running at 1.9 GHz. It comes with 32GB of DDR4 memory and a 1TB NVMe PCIe M.2 solid-state drive. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 Full HD non-touch display. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed.

Suits frequent travellers and office users

This configuration handles multi-tasking, video calls and document work across USB 3.0, HDMI, VGA and a USB-C DisplayPort connection. Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11 wireless provide reliable network access. Buyers who need a dedicated graphics card for 3D rendering or gaming should look elsewhere. The Grade B LCD shows visible scratches or surface marks, so users wanting a pristine screen will not be satisfied.

32GB memory and 1TB NVMe give ample headroom

The large memory pool keeps dozens of browser tabs and office apps open without swapping. The 1TB NVMe drive stores years of project files and boots the system in seconds. Intensive tasks such as video editing or large dataset analysis will hit the limits of the integrated graphics and the 15W ultra-low-voltage processor.

Questions about this item

Does the Latitude 5490 need any external memory modules to reach 32 GB DDR4?

No, the 32 GB DDR4 is already installed and occupies the available slots, so no extra modules are required.

Can I keep using a VGA projector with the HDMI and VGA ports on this 5490?

Yes, the laptop provides one HDMI port and one VGA port, so a VGA projector connects directly without an adapter.

How can I verify the 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD is recognised at full speed after setup?

Open Task Manager, select the Performance tab, choose the disk and confirm it shows 1 TB capacity and an NVMe PCIe interface.
