Business travel laptop

The Dell Latitude 5490 is a 14-inch business laptop built around an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor. It ships with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, 8GB DDR4 memory and a 1TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 non-touch display. Connectivity includes HDMI, VGA, USB-C with DisplayPort, three USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11n wireless and a webcam.

Mobile professionals and office users

This configuration suits people who need a lightweight, durable chassis for frequent travel and client meetings. The 15W processor and NVMe storage provide responsive performance for office applications and video conferencing. Buyers who require a dedicated graphics card for 3D rendering, a touchscreen for pen input, or more than 8GB of memory for heavy virtualisation should consider other options.

Storage and speed foundation

The 1TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD is the specification that defines daily responsiveness. It delivers fast boot times, quick application launches and ample space for large project files without relying on slower mechanical drives. If your workflow demands higher sequential throughput or a second drive bay for expansion, this single-drive design will not meet those needs.

Questions about this item

What is included with the Dell Latitude 5490 and what must be purchased separately?

The box contains the laptop, a charger, and the installed battery. No optical drive is fitted, so external media drives or additional peripherals are separate purchases.

Should I choose the 8 GB DDR4 memory or the 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD for my workload?

The 8 GB DDR4 handles active multitasking and the 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD provides fast boot and file access; both are fixed in this configuration and serve different roles.

What does the Intel Core i7-8650U 1.9 GHz quad-core processor deliver in daily use?

Four cores and eight threads with 8 MB cache run at a 15 W thermal design, giving responsive office performance and efficient battery life on the 14.0 inch FHD display.
