Built for business mobility

The Dell Latitude 5520 is a 15.6-inch work laptop powered by an Intel i7-1185G7 processor with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 512 GB NVMe drive. It ships with Windows 11 Pro and weighs 3.51 lb, making it a practical choice for professionals who need a portable machine for office applications and video calls.

Thermals and daily power

The quad-core CPU runs at a 3 GHz base frequency and can reach 4.80 GHz when workloads demand it, while the integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics handles the 1920 x 1080 ComfortView Plus display. The slim 0.78-inch chassis and 14.1 x 9.2-inch footprint keep the system light, and the 802.11ax wireless connection maintains steady throughput during typical business tasks.

Upgrade path and limits

This configuration replaces an older 15-inch business notebook that struggles with 16 GB of memory or lacks fast NVMe storage, and the jump is worth it when you need quicker application loading and smoother multitasking on a single screen. It is not suited for buyers who want discrete graphics for rendering, a higher refresh-rate panel, or more than two USB-C ports for docks and peripherals.

Questions about this item

How do I install the NVMe drive and what step do people miss?

The 512 GB NVMe M.2 PCI Express drive fits into the internal M.2 slot; the step people miss is removing the bottom cover screws before inserting the drive at an angle and securing it with the retention screw.

What maintenance or replacement will the memory need later?

The 16 GB DDR4 3200 MHz memory is soldered and not user-replaceable; no routine maintenance is required, but a failure would need a motherboard swap.

What limit appears first during sustained heavy workloads on the i7-1185G7?

The quad-core i7-1185G7 with 4.80 GHz boost will hit thermal throttling first under sustained load, reducing clocks to manage heat within the 0.78" chassis.
