15.6in business laptop with i5-8350U

The Dell Latitude 5590 is a 15.6in business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-8350U processor running at 1.7GHz. It comes with 8GB of DDR4 memory and a 512GB SSD. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed.

Suits mobile professionals needing core ports

This unit suits professionals who need a full set of legacy and modern ports including HDMI 1.4, VGA, RJ-45, an SD 4.0 card reader and DisplayPort over USB Type-C. Buyers who need a touchscreen or a higher-resolution display should look elsewhere.

1366 x 768 HD non-touch display

The deciding specification is the 1366 x 768 HD non-touch screen. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives this panel, so the laptop handles office applications and video playback but is not suited to colour-critical work or gaming.

Questions about this item

Can the 8 GB DDR4 2400 memory be expanded later, and what is the maximum supported?

The laptop has two memory slots and supports up to 32 GB of DDR4 2400 RAM, so you can add or replace modules to reach that limit.

What thermal or power limit appears first when the i5-8350U runs at full load for long periods?

The 15 W U-series processor will hit its sustained power ceiling before the cooling system saturates, so performance settles at the chip's rated long-term turbo rather than overheating.

How loud does the fan get and how hot does the chassis feel during an all-day workload?

Under continuous office loads the single fan stays at low RPM, keeping the keyboard deck warm but not hot, and noise remains at a quiet office background level.
