Dell Latitude 5590 business laptop

The Dell Latitude 5590 is a 15.6 inch business laptop built around an 8th Generation Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor running at 1.70 GHz with a turbo frequency up to 3.60 GHz. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB SSD, driving a 1920 x 1080 non-touch FHD panel through integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620. Windows 11 Pro comes pre-installed.

Suited users and limits

This machine suits office workers, students and mobile professionals who need a reliable 15.6 inch device for document editing, web browsing and video conferencing via the built-in webcam. Buyers who want a touchscreen, discrete graphics for creative workloads or a larger storage capacity should look at something else.

Deciding specification

The 8 GB DDR4 memory capacity is the single specification that decides whether this is the right part; it is soldered and not upgradeable, so workloads that regularly exceed this limit will require a different system.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 8 GB / 256 GB model or the 16 GB / 1 TB version?

The 8 GB / 256 GB build handles everyday office work and web browsing; the 16 GB / 1 TB build adds headroom for heavier multitasking and larger local files.

What does the 1.7 GHz quad-core i5-8350U deliver in daily use?

Base clock is 1.7 GHz with a 3.6 GHz turbo, four cores and eight threads — enough for smooth Windows 11 Pro multitasking, video calls and light content creation.

What does USB 3.1 Gen 1 mean for my peripherals?

Each Type-A port runs at 5 Gbps, so external SSDs, docks and drives hit full practical speed; the Type-C port shares the same 5 Gbps lane.
