Rugged tablet for field professionals

The DELL Latitude 7204 is a new, convertible 11.6-inch tablet built to MIL-STD-810G standards for transit drop, vibration, blowing rain, dust and sand. It runs Windows 10 Pro on a fourth-generation Intel Core i5 at 2.00GHz with 8GB of memory and a 256GB solid-state drive. An integrated webcam and GPS support documentation and navigation in outdoor environments.

Suited for mobile workers needing durability

This unit suits field-service technicians, surveyors and logistics staff who require a daylight-readable 1366 x 768 display and a sealed chassis that survives repeated drops and harsh weather. It is not for buyers who need a touchscreen interface, a larger display area, or higher memory capacity for virtualisation workloads. Users dependent on modern wireless standards should verify compatibility before purchase.

11.6-inch 1366 x 768 non-touch display

The direct-view outdoor-readable panel is the specification that defines whether this tablet fits the workflow. Its fixed resolution and lack of touch input determine usability for gloved operation, form-based data entry and mounting in vehicle docks. Confirm the screen characteristics match the application before committing.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 256GB SSD in the Latitude 7204, and what step is often missed?

The SSD slots into the internal M.2 bay; the step often missed is reinstalling the rubber gasket and tightening the captive screws to maintain the IP rating.

What maintenance will the 11.6" 1366 x 768 outdoor-readable display need later?

Clean the anti-glare coating with a microfibre cloth and isopropyl alcohol; replace the digitiser film if deep scratches reduce sunlight readability.

Which limit appears first during sustained field use of the Core i5 2.00GHz?

Thermal throttling activates after prolonged maximum load because the fanless chassis relies on passive cooling alone.
