Business travel laptop

The Dell Latitude 7290 is a 12.5-inch laptop built for professionals who need a compact device for frequent travel and client meetings. It runs on an Intel Core i7-8650U processor with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 1 TB M.2 SATA SSD. The 1366 x 768 HD display and integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handle standard office tasks and presentations. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed.

Installation and common issues

The laptop arrives ready to use with charger and battery included; no internal assembly is required. Users simply connect power, press the power button and follow the Windows 10 Pro setup prompts. A frequent issue is forgetting to install Thunderbolt peripheral drivers after first boot, which can leave docks or external displays unrecognised. Another common oversight is leaving the microSD card reader disabled in BIOS, preventing memory card access.

Pre-purchase checks

Verify that your existing monitors or projectors accept an HDMI input for video output. Confirm that any USB-C docks or chargers you plan to use support Thunderbolt 3 for full bandwidth and charging. Check that your network infrastructure can utilise Gigabit Ethernet or 802.11ac Wi-Fi for optimal wired and wireless speeds. Ensure your software licences are compatible with Windows 10 Pro x64 before migrating workloads.

The box contains the Latitude 7290, its charger and the installed battery; no dock, external drive or additional cables are included.

Which specification should I check to match my workload — the 16 GB DDR4 memory or the 1 TB M.2 SATA SSD?
