12.5" Latitude 7290 ultraportable

The Dell Latitude 7290 is a 12.5 inch ultraportable laptop built for professionals who travel frequently. It weighs very little and fits easily in a small bag. The Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor and 8GB DDR4 memory handle office applications and video calls smoothly. Windows 10 Home comes pre-installed.

Installation and common issues

The laptop arrives ready to use with charger and battery included. Simply connect power and press the power button to begin Windows setup. A common issue is the limited 128GB M.2 SATA SSD filling quickly with large files or updates. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 cannot drive demanding external displays or modern games.

Interface and practical limits

Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C provides high-speed data and video output through a single port. The HDMI port supports external monitors or projectors for presentations. Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11ac Wi-Fi with Bluetooth 4.2 cover wired and wireless networking. The 1366 x 768 HD screen limits multitasking space compared to higher-resolution panels.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port is functioning correctly after setup?

Connect a Thunderbolt 3 device or external display to the USB-C port; the Intel UHD Graphics 620 should detect the display at up to 1366 x 768 resolution and data should transfer at Thunderbolt speeds.

What items are included with the Latitude 7290 and what common accessories are not supplied?

The box contains the laptop, charger and installed battery; a microSD card, external storage, docking station or USB-C hub are not included and must be purchased separately.

Which configuration suits a user who needs maximum onboard storage for offline files?

This model ships with a 128GB M.2 SATA SSD; if you require more local capacity, plan to add a larger M.2 SATA drive or use the microSD card reader for supplementary storage.
