Genuine Dell OEM palmrest touchpad assembly with fingerprint reader, smart card reader and touchpad module for Latitude 7290 and 7390 laptops
This genuine Dell OEM palmrest touchpad assembly is built for Latitude 7290 and 7390 laptops. It arrives new and matches the original factory specification. The unit includes the touchpad module, smart card reader, fingerprint reader and mouse buttons. Buyers needing a different layout or extra ports should look elsewhere.
The assembly combines the touchpad, smart card reader and fingerprint reader on a single USH junction board. An LED indicator light with cable is also included. All modules draw power from the laptop mainboard without extra connectors. No separate drivers are required beyond the standard Dell support package.
Under continuous office use the fingerprint reader and smart card module remain responsive over long sessions. The touchpad tracks consistently without thermal throttling. Components are rated for the same duty cycle as the original factory parts. Heavy multi-user environments may wear the buttons faster than light use.

Remove the bottom case, disconnect the battery, then detach the old palmrest cables. The step people miss is reconnecting the USH junction board and fingerprint reader flex before securing the new assembly.
The touchpad module 2W4VC and fingerprint reader CAZ10 are the parts most likely to wear out or fail after extended use.
The smart card reader module GD8W8 can overheat during long, continuous transactions, causing temporary read errors until it cools.
