Replacement palmrest assembly with touchpad, fingerprint reader and smart-card slot for Latitude 7390 2-in-1
This palmrest assembly is built for the Latitude 7390 2-in-1 and carries Dell part number 28N6P. It integrates the touchpad module VXD56, mouse buttons A167QF and a status LED board. A fingerprint reader and smart-card reader are included in the unit. The part is supplied new and ready for installation.
The assembly contains no active cooling or power circuitry, so it adds no heat or noise to the chassis. Power draw is limited to the low-voltage touchpad and fingerprint sensor circuits. Normal operation does not affect system thermals or acoustic profile.
The palmrest replaces the original top-case section and aligns with the existing screw points and ribbon-cable routing of the Latitude 7390 2-in-1. It restores touchpad navigation, fingerprint login and smart-card access in a single module. Buyers needing a different chassis layout or additional I/O ports will not be served by this part.

Remove the bottom cover, disconnect the battery, then unplug the touchpad cable (VXD56) and the fingerprint-reader flex before lifting the old assembly; the step most often missed is forgetting to detach the smart-card reader ribbon that sits under the palmrest.
The touchpad surface can wear from heavy clicking; the VXD56 module and the A167QF mouse buttons are field-replaceable, and the fingerprint sensor may need a driver reinstall after a major OS upgrade.
The fingerprint sensor’s scan rate drops after many rapid authentications, and the smart-card reader’s contact pads can accumulate debris, causing read errors before any other component fails.
