Business Ultraportable

The Dell Latitude 7400 is a 14.0-inch laptop built for professionals who need a lightweight Windows 10 Pro machine with 32GB of memory and a 512GB SSD. Its quad-core Intel Core i7-8665U processor reaches 4.80 GHz turbo frequency for responsive office multitasking. The silver aluminum chassis houses a non-touch 1920 x 1080 FHD display and integrated graphics.

Sustained Workloads

Under continuous load the 1.9 GHz base clock and 4.80 GHz turbo work within the slim 17.82 mm to 18.96 mm profile, so performance settles at levels the cooling solution can maintain. Thunderbolt 3 with Power Delivery and DisplayPort supports external monitors and docks during long sessions. The 802.11ac wireless link keeps network traffic steady without the thermal spikes of heavier mobile workstations.

Deciding Specification

The 32GB memory capacity is the single figure that determines whether this Latitude 7400 fits the workload; buyers who need more storage or a dedicated GPU for rendering should look elsewhere. The 512GB SSD and integrated graphics define the remaining ceiling for local data and visual tasks.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the i7-8665U get when the 7400 runs all day?

The quad-core i7-8665U tops out at 4.80 GHz turbo, so sustained loads will spin the fans and warm the aluminium chassis, but the 14.0" frame stays thin at 17.82 mm front and 18.96 mm rear.

Which cables or docks must I already own to use the Thunderbolt 3 port?

You need a Thunderbolt 3 cable or dock that supports Power Delivery and DisplayPort alt-mode to charge the 7.4 mm barrel-input laptop and drive an external monitor.

Will my older USB-A flash drives and HDMI monitor work with the 7400?

Yes — two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports and an HDMI 1.4 output are built in, so legacy peripherals and 1080p displays connect without adapters.
