Rugged Port Cover

This genuine Dell OEM door protects the rear-right serial and RJ45 ports on Latitude 7404 and 7414 Rugged Extreme notebooks. It snaps into the chassis opening to seal the connectors from dust, moisture and impact. The part number is J46D0. It is supplied new and matches the factory specification.

Replacement For Damaged Doors

It replaces a missing, cracked or loose original cover that no longer latches or seals properly. The upgrade is worth it when the port bay is exposed to field conditions that could corrode the contacts or jam the connectors. A secure door restores the rugged rating of the 14 inch chassis.

Limits Of The Mechanical Seal

The cover relies on a simple snap fit and gasket material to block ingress. It does not add a locking mechanism or a secondary latch. Repeated removal for daily docking cycles will wear the retention tabs over time. The seal is rated for the notebook's standard environmental specification only.

Questions about this item

Does the J46D0 rear port door fit the 14-inch Latitude 7404 and 7414 Rugged Extreme models?

Yes, the J46D0 door is the genuine Dell OEM cover designed for the rear-right serial and RJ45 ports on both the Latitude 7404 and 7414 Rugged Extreme notebooks.

How is the rear port door installed, and what step is often missed?

The door snaps onto the rear-right chassis opening; the step often missed is pressing firmly along the full perimeter until every retention clip clicks, ensuring the environmental seal seats correctly.

When should the J46D0 door be replaced to maintain the rugged seal?

Replace the door if the hinge spring weakens, the rubber gasket tears, or the latch no longer holds the cover tightly closed against the 7404 or 7414 chassis.
