Business convertible for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 7420 2-in-1 is a 14-inch touchscreen laptop built for business users who need a convertible form factor. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i7-1185G7 quad-core processor with a 4.40 GHz turbo frequency. The system includes 16GB of memory and a 256GB SSD. Integrated graphics drive the 1920 x 1080 FHD display.

Thermals and power in daily use

The carbon-fibre chassis measures 0.67 inches thick and weighs 3.00 lb, leaving limited space for cooling hardware. The low-power Tiger Lake core runs at a 1.8 GHz base clock, which helps contain heat during typical office workloads. Fan noise stays low when the processor remains near its base frequency. Power draw scales with the 4.40 GHz turbo bursts during heavier tasks.

Build quality and daily connectivity

The carbon-fibre lid and magnesium-alloy base meet MIL-STD durability targets while keeping weight down. Two Thunderbolt 4 ports with Power Delivery and DisplayPort handle charging, data and external displays through a single cable. A full-size HDMI 2.0 port adds a second video output without adapters. The microSD 4.0 reader and universal audio jack cover common peripheral needs.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 256GB SSD and what step is often missed?

The 256GB SSD is already fitted inside the Latitude 7420 2-in-1; no installation is required. The step users miss is checking that Windows 10 Pro recognises the full capacity on first boot.

What maintenance will the 16GB memory need later?

The 16GB memory is soldered to the mainboard and cannot be upgraded or replaced. Maintenance is limited to keeping the cooling vents clear so the i7-1185G7 does not throttle.

What limit appears first during sustained loads on the i7-1185G7?

The integrated graphics share system memory, so extended heavy workloads hit the 16GB RAM ceiling before the quad-core processor reaches its 4.40 GHz turbo limit.
