Business-ready 14.0" laptop for professionals

The Dell Latitude 7420 is a new 14.0-inch business laptop built around an 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1185G7 processor with 16GB of DDR4 memory and a 256GB PCIe SSD. It ships with Windows 10 Pro and a 1920 x 1080 non-touch anti-glare display. The aluminium lid and compact chassis suit mobile professionals and students who need a reliable daily driver.

Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI 2.0 expand desk connectivity

Two Thunderbolt 4 ports provide DisplayPort Alt Mode, USB4 and Power Delivery through a single cable, while an HDMI 2.0 port adds a second external display. A USB 3.2 Gen 1 port with PowerShare charges peripherals even when the laptop sleeps. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth handle wireless links, and the microSD slot accepts memory cards without an adapter.

16GB DDR4 and 256GB SSD cover mainstream workloads

The 16GB DDR4 1866 configuration handles multi-tab browsing, Office suites and video conferencing without paging. The 256GB PCIe SSD boots Windows 10 Pro quickly and stores core project files. Users working with large media libraries, virtual machines or extensive local databases will need external or cloud storage to supplement the internal drive.

Questions about this item

How long can the 63 WHr battery last under continuous load before needing a recharge?

The 4-cell 63 WHr battery supports Express Charge, which can replenish a large portion of capacity in a short time, but actual runtime under sustained heavy workloads will vary based on screen brightness, CPU utilisation and attached peripherals.

What are the thermal and acoustic characteristics when the i7-1185G7 runs at its 4.8 GHz turbo for extended periods?

The aluminium chassis helps dissipate heat from the 4-core processor, and the 65 W Type-C adapter supplies sufficient power, though sustained maximum turbo clocks will increase fan activity and surface temperature.

Which existing peripherals can connect directly to the two Thunderbolt 4 ports without needing extra adapters?

The Thunderbolt 4 ports support DisplayPort Alt Mode, USB4 and Power Delivery, so compatible monitors, docks, external GPUs and high-speed storage devices can be attached directly.
