Business ultraportable with 14-inch IPS panel

The Dell Latitude 7420 is a new 14.0-inch laptop built around a quad-core Intel Core i5-1145G7 processor running at 2.6 GHz with 8 MB cache. It ships with Windows 11 Pro, 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 512 GB PCIe NVMe drive. Integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics G7 drives the 1920 x 1080 non-touch display.

Not for users needing upgradeable RAM

The memory slots are fully populated at 16 GB, though the platform supports up to 32 GB. Buyers who want to add memory themselves cannot. The integrated graphics suit office work and video playback but will not satisfy creators or engineers who require a dedicated GPU for rendering or compute workloads.

512 GB PCIe NVMe storage decides fit

The single 512 GB NVMe drive determines whether the laptop holds your working set. If project files, local databases or virtual machines exceed that capacity you will need external storage or a different model. The drive uses the NVMe protocol for fast boot and application launch.

Questions about this item

What limits sustained performance of the Intel Core i5-1145G7 in the Latitude 7420?

The quad-core processor runs at 2.6GHz with 8MB cache and relies on integrated Iris Xe graphics, so thermal headroom under continuous load is defined by the thin carbon-fibre chassis.

How loud or hot does the laptop get when running all day?

With no discrete GPU and a 14-inch IPS panel, the system stays quiet during typical office work; sustained heavy tasks will raise fan speed and surface temperature as the integrated graphics share the same cooling.

What memory does the buyer already need because the laptop has no free slots?

The 16GB DDR4 is soldered and the maximum supported is 32GB, so any future upgrade must be decided at purchase — no SO-DIMM can be added later.
