Latitude 7480 for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 7480 is a 14.0 inch business laptop built for people who travel or meet clients regularly. It runs Windows 10 Home on an Intel Core i7-6600U dual-core processor with 2.6 GHz base speed and 8GB DDR4 memory. The 128GB SATA M.2 SSD provides fast loading times while helping battery life. A 1920 x 1080 FHD non-touch display and Intel HD Graphics 520 handle everyday productivity and video calls.

Thermals and power in daily use

The high-efficiency U-series processor is designed for longer battery runtime during typical office workloads. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 keeps heat output low when driving the built-in screen or an external display via HDMI. Fan noise stays modest during document editing, web browsing and video conferencing. The 128GB SATA M.2 SSD draws less power than a traditional hard drive, contributing to cooler, quieter operation.

Ports and accessories that expand utility

Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C adds high-speed peripheral support and future docking options. HDMI output connects directly to projectors or televisions for presentations. Three USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, a microSD reader and Bluetooth 4.2 cover most legacy and modern accessories. The box includes the laptop, charger and battery so the system is ready to deploy immediately.

Questions about this item

How do I install the M.2 SATA SSD in this Latitude 7480, and what step do people often miss?

Remove the base cover, insert the M.2 SATA drive into the slot at an angle, then secure it with the single retention screw; the step often missed is pressing the drive fully flat before tightening the screw so the connector seats correctly.

Which component will need replacement first on the Latitude 7480, and how is it accessed?

The internal battery is the first part likely to need replacement; it is accessed by removing the base cover screws and disconnecting the battery cable from the motherboard before lifting the battery out.

What thermal limit appears first on the i7-6600U during sustained loads?

The dual-core i7-6600U reaches its thermal throttle point quickly under continuous heavy workloads, causing the processor to reduce its 2.6 GHz clock speed to stay within temperature limits.
