Compact business laptop

The Dell Latitude 7480 is a 14.0 inch notebook built around an Intel Core i7-6600U dual-core processor running at 2.6 GHz. It ships with 16GB of DDR4 memory and a 128GB SATA M.2 SSD. The Full HD display resolves at 1920 x 1080 and is driven by integrated Intel HD Graphics 520. Windows 10 Pro comes pre-installed for immediate productivity.

Thermals and power profile

The low-power processor design keeps heat output modest during typical office workloads such as document editing, web browsing and video calls. Fan activity remains subdued under these conditions, contributing to a quiet working environment. The efficient architecture also supports extended battery life when operating away from a power outlet, a practical advantage for mobile professionals.

Storage capacity constraint

The 128GB solid-state drive provides fast boot and application launch times but offers limited room for large local file libraries, media collections or multiple virtual machines. Users who rely on cloud storage or external drives will find the capacity adequate. Buyers who need more onboard space without adding peripherals should consider a model with a larger drive.

Questions about this item

How do I install the M.2 SATA SSD in the Dell Latitude 7480, and what step is often missed?

Remove the bottom cover, insert the M.2 SATA drive into the slot at an angle, then secure it with the single retention screw; the step often missed is fastening that screw before reassembly.

What maintenance or replacement will the 16GB DDR4 memory and 128GB M.2 SATA SSD need later?

The 16GB DDR4 is soldered and not replaceable; the 128GB M.2 SATA SSD can be swapped for a larger SATA M.2 drive when capacity runs low.

What limit appears first on the Intel Core i7-6600U with Intel HD Graphics 520 during sustained heavy workloads?

The dual-core 2.6 GHz CPU hits thermal throttling before the integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 becomes the bottleneck.
