Latitude 7490 business laptop

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0 inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-8350U processor running at 1.7 GHz. It ships with 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 512 GB M.2 NVMe PCIe solid-state drive. The Full HD display shows 1920 x 1080 resolution without touch input. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles visual output. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed on this Grade B unit which shows cosmetic blemishes.

Suits mobile workers and presenters

This machine suits professionals who travel frequently and need reliable connectivity for external displays through HDMI or USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 ports. Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 cover wired and wireless networking. The built-in webcam and microSD card reader support conferencing and quick file transfers. Buyers seeking a pristine cosmetic appearance or a touchscreen should look elsewhere.

Sustained office workloads

Under continuous office workloads the quad-core processor with 6 MB L2 cache maintains steady performance for document editing, web browsing and video calls. The NVMe drive keeps application launches and file saves fast during long sessions. Integrated graphics share system memory so heavy 3D rendering or gaming will throttle quickly. Thermal design favours typical productivity bursts rather than prolonged maximum frequency.

Questions about this item

Do I need a separate operating-system licence to start using the Dell Latitude 7490?

Windows 10 Pro x64 is already installed and activated on the 512 GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD, so the laptop boots to a licensed desktop without any extra licence purchase.

Can I keep using my existing 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet cables with this laptop?

The built-in Gigabit Ethernet port accepts standard RJ-45 cables, so your current Cat5e or Cat6 patch leads will connect at full 1000 Mbps speed without adapters.

How can I verify the Intel Core i5-8350U is running at its 1.70 GHz base frequency after first boot?

Open Task Manager, select the Performance tab, choose CPU and confirm the Base speed reads 1.70 GHz while the processor name shows Intel Core i5-8350U.
