Business-ready 14-inch laptop

The Dell Latitude 7490 delivers a quad-core Intel Core i7-8650U processor, 16GB DDR4 memory and a 1TB M.2 SATA SSD in a 14.0-inch FHD non-touch chassis. It ships with Windows 10 Pro and includes Thunderbolt 3, HDMI, gigabit Ethernet and a webcam for office and travel workloads.

Suits mobile professionals needing legacy OS

This unit fits users who require Windows 10 Pro compatibility, integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 and a full set of ports including USB 3.0 and microSD. Buyers who need a dedicated GPU, a touchscreen panel or a newer operating system should consider other configurations.

Storage interface is M.2 SATA

The 1TB drive uses the M.2 SATA protocol rather than a faster PCIe-based standard, so sequential throughput will be limited to SATA speeds. Verify that your imaging tools and encryption policies support this interface before deployment.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 1 TB M.2 SATA SSD in the Latitude 7490?

The SSD is already installed in the M.2 slot; no user action is required unless you replace it, in which case remove the bottom cover, unscrew the drive, insert the new M.2 SATA module at an angle, then secure it with the same screw.

What maintenance will the 16 GB DDR4 memory need later?

The memory is soldered and not upgradeable; no routine maintenance is needed, but if a failure occurs the whole board must be serviced.

What limit appears first during sustained heavy workloads on the Core i7-8650U?

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 shares system memory and thermal budget, so graphics-intensive tasks hit thermal throttling before the CPU reaches its maximum turbo frequency.
