Business travel companion

The Latitude 7490 is a 14.0 inch laptop built for professionals who move between offices and client sites. Its quad-core i7-8650U processor runs at 1.9 GHz with turbo up to 4.2 GHz, supported by 32 GB of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB NVMe drive. Windows 11 Pro is installed and ready for domain join or mobile device management.

Sustained workload behaviour

Under continuous load the four cores and eight threads share 8 MB of L3 cache while the integrated UHD Graphics 620 uses system memory for video tasks. The NVMe SSD keeps read and write latency low during long compile or database sessions. Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI allow dual external displays without slowing the internal pipeline.

Thermals noise and power

The slim chassis dissipates heat through a single fan that stays quiet during typical office applications and video calls. Surface temperatures remain comfortable on the keyboard deck and palm rest during extended use. The included charger replenishes the battery efficiently while the system idles at low wattage.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the i7-8650U get when the Latitude 7490 runs all day?

The quad-core i7-8650U with Intel UHD 620 graphics is a low-power mobile processor, so typical office workloads keep fan noise and surface temperatures modest even during extended use.

What must I already own to use the Thunderbolt 3 port on this Latitude 7490?

A Thunderbolt 3 cable or dock with a USB-C connector, plus any monitor or peripheral that accepts Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C video and data.

Will my older HDMI monitor and USB 3.0 accessories work with the 7490's HDMI and USB 3.0 ports?

Yes, the HDMI port drives 1080p displays and the three USB 3.0 ports are backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 devices.
