Product identity

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0-inch business laptop built around an Intel Core i5 8th Gen processor running at 1.60GHz. It ships with 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD in a black chassis with a backlit keyboard. Windows 10 Home is pre-installed with a recovery image.

Upgrade path

This unit replaces an older machine limited to 8GB of RAM or a mechanical hard drive. The jump is worthwhile when daily workloads need 16GB of memory and solid-state responsiveness for multitasking and fast boot times. Buyers who want more storage or a higher-resolution display should look elsewhere.

Capacity and headroom

The 512GB drive offers between 480GB and 512GB of usable space for applications and files. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles office programs and video playback on the 1366 x 768 screen. Demanding 3D tasks or colour-critical work will exceed the graphics and display capabilities.
