DELL Latitude 7490 14-inch business laptop

The DELL Latitude 7490 is a 14-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-8250U processor at 1.60 GHz with 8 GB DDR4 memory and a 256 GB SSD. It runs Windows 10 Pro 64-bit on a 1920 x 1080 anti-glare display with Intel UHD Graphics 620 using shared system memory. Connectivity includes 802.11ac dual-band wireless, Bluetooth 4.1, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort over USB Type-C, three USB 3.1 Gen1 ports, an SD 4.0 card reader and a 720p webcam.

Ideal for mobile office work and video calls

This configuration suits professionals who need a lightweight 14.0-inch chassis with a full-size keyboard, track stick and long battery life for document editing, web apps and video conferencing. Buyers who want a dedicated graphics card for 3D rendering or gaming should look elsewhere, as the integrated graphics share system memory. Users needing more than 32 GB DDR4 maximum memory or a touchscreen display will not find those features here.

Check memory slots and port requirements before

The laptop has two memory slots supporting up to 32 GB DDR4 total, so verify whether an upgrade is needed before purchase. Ensure your peripherals match the available ports: HDMI 1.4, USB Type-C with DisplayPort alt mode, three USB 3.1 Gen1 (one PowerShare), RJ45 Ethernet, SD 4.0 card reader and a universal audio jack. Confirm that Windows 10 Pro 64-bit meets your software compatibility needs and that the 256 GB SSD provides sufficient storage for your workload.

Questions about this item

Does the laptop need any extra parts such as a battery or power adapter before it can start up?

The package includes the Latitude 7490 and a power adapter, and the lithium-ion battery is built in and guaranteed to hold a charge.

Can I keep using my existing USB 3.1 Gen1 peripherals and an external monitor through the HDMI 1.4 port on this laptop?

Yes, the laptop provides three USB 3.1 Gen1 ports and an HDMI 1.4 output, so older USB devices and monitors will connect directly.

How can I verify that the Intel UHD Graphics 620 and the 1920 x 1080 display are working correctly after setup?

Open Display Settings to confirm the native 1920 x 1080 resolution and run the Intel Graphics Command Center to see the UHD Graphics 620 listed as the active GPU.
