Latitude 7490 with quad-core i7-8650U

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0-inch business laptop built around an Intel Core i7-8650U running at 1.90 GHz with four cores and 8 MB of L3 cache. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 512 GB NVMe drive, and it comes licensed for Windows 11 Pro. The FHD panel shows 1920 x 1080 resolution without touch input.

Step up from dual-core ultraportables

Moving from a two-core system to this quad-core Kaby Lake R processor gives a clear lift in multi-threaded throughput for office suites, browser tabs and light virtualization. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles external displays over Thunderbolt 3 or HDMI, so the upgrade pays off when you need sustained compile times or multiple monitors rather than occasional bursts.

16 GB RAM and 512 GB NVMe headroom

Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 keeps typical enterprise workloads — email, VPN, spreadsheet models, containerized dev tools — running without paging. The 512 GB NVMe drive absorbs a full OS image, local caches and project repositories with room to spare. Buyers who want more storage or discrete graphics for 3D work will need a different chassis.
