Travel-ready 14" business laptop

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0 inch Windows 11 Pro notebook built around an Intel Core i7-8650U quad-core processor with 8 MB cache. It ships with 32 GB DDR4 memory and a 1 TB NVMe SSD for fast boot and application load times. The non-touch FHD panel uses LED backlight at 1920 x 1080 resolution driven by integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620.

Professionals needing portability and legacy ports

This unit suits mobile workers who rely on Thunderbolt 3, HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet and a microSD reader for docks, projectors and wired networks. Buyers who want a touchscreen, discrete graphics or a newer wireless standard should look elsewhere. The Grade B condition means visible cosmetic blemishes such as scratches are present.

Quad-core U-series processor with 4.2 GHz boost

The i7-8650U runs at a 1.9 GHz base clock and can reach 4.2 GHz via Turbo Boost across its four cores and eight threads. This single specification determines whether the laptop meets the performance envelope for your workload.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the i7-8650U get when the 14" FHD laptop runs all day?

The quad-core i7-8650U has a base speed of 1.9 GHz and can reach 4.2 GHz under load; heat and fan noise will rise during sustained heavy work but the 14.0" chassis is designed for business travel use.

What must I already own to use the Thunderbolt 3 port and the HDMI output on this Latitude 7490?

You need a Thunderbolt 3 cable or dock for the USB-C port and a standard HDMI cable for the HDMI port; both connectors are built into the laptop.

Will the Intel UHD Graphics 620 drive my older 1080p monitor over HDMI without issues?

Yes, the integrated UHD Graphics 620 supports 1920 x 1080 output over the HDMI port, so an older Full HD display will work directly.
