Ready-to-work 14-inch business laptop

The Dell Latitude 7490 arrives with Windows 10 Pro, 32GB DDR4 and a 256GB NVMe drive already installed. It targets mobile professionals who need a quiet, fan-managed ultrabook for office applications, video calls and light content review. Buyers who want more storage or a discrete graphics card should look elsewhere.

Simple peripheral expansion, limited internal access

Three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, Thunderbolt 3 and a MicroSD reader handle docks, monitors and card transfers without adapters. The battery and charger are included so the system powers on immediately. Memory and SSD are soldered or difficult to reach, so post-purchase upgrades are not practical.

Quad-core i7-8650U with 4.2 GHz turbo

The processor runs at 1.9 GHz base and boosts to 4.2 GHz across four cores and eight threads. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 drives the 1920 x 1080 panel and external displays through HDMI or Thunderbolt. This CPU tier suits productivity workloads; it does not support gaming or heavy rendering.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the Intel Core i7-8650U reaches its 4.2 GHz turbo after setup?

Open Task Manager, go to the Performance tab, select CPU and watch the speed column while running a demanding task; it should show frequencies up to 4.2 GHz when the processor boosts.

Which accessories are included and what must I source separately?

The box contains the laptop, charger and battery; a Thunderbolt 3 dock, external monitor cables or additional USB-C peripherals are not included and must be purchased separately.

Is the 32 GB DDR4 and 256 GB NVMe combination the right choice for heavy multitasking?

Yes, 32 GB DDR4 handles many applications simultaneously while the 256 GB NVMe drive provides fast boot and load times; if you store large media libraries locally, consider adding external storage.
