Latitude E5450 mobile workstation

The Dell Latitude E5450 is a 14.0-inch laptop built around a dual-core Intel Core i7-5600U processor with a turbo frequency of 3.20 GHz. It ships with 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 1TB 2.5-inch SATA SSD. Windows 10 Home 64-bit comes pre-installed.

Sustained workload behaviour

The U-series processor balances performance with thermal limits, so clock speeds adjust during long rendering or compilation sessions. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 handles desktop compositing and video playback without a discrete GPU. The 16 GB memory ceiling allows future expansion for heavier multitasking.

Chassis connectivity daily use

A black and silver chassis houses a non-touch FHD panel at 1920 x 1080 resolution. Standard ports support external displays and peripherals for desk docking. The 2.5-inch drive bay simplifies storage upgrades or replacements. A 365 day parts and labour warranty covers the unit.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the Core i7-5600U get when the E5450 runs all day?

The dual-core Core i7-5600U runs at a base 2.60 GHz and can turbo to 3.20 GHz; its integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 shares the same thermal envelope, so sustained loads keep fan noise moderate and surface temperatures warm but not extreme.

What must I already own to use the 1 TB 2.5" SATA SSD and 8 GB DDR3 in this Latitude E5450?

The laptop ships with the 1 TB SSD installed and 8 GB of DDR3 in its two memory slots, so no extra storage or RAM is required to start working.

Will my older SATA peripherals and DDR3 modules work alongside the E5450's 1 TB SSD and 8 GB RAM?

The 1 TB drive uses a standard 2.5" SATA interface, so existing SATA cables and caddies fit, and the two DDR3 slots accept compatible modules up to the 16 GB maximum.
