Target user

The Dell Latitude E5450 is a 14-inch HD laptop built around a dual-core Intel Core i7-5600U processor. It ships with 16GB of DDR3 memory and a new 240GB SATA SSD. The system arrives without an operating system installed. It suits buyers who need a compact, ready-to-run machine for office applications and web browsing.

Upgrade path

This unit replaces an older hard-drive laptop or a system limited to 8GB of memory. The jump is worthwhile when moving from mechanical storage to the fitted 240GB SSD and when the full 16GB memory ceiling is required. Buyers who want more storage or a higher-resolution display should look elsewhere.

Compatibility checks

Verify that your software licences cover installation on a device with no pre-loaded operating system. Confirm that 16GB meets the maximum memory supported, as no further expansion is possible. Ensure the 1366 x 768 screen resolution matches your workflow needs before ordering.

Questions about this item

Does the 14.0" chassis use a 2.5" drive bay for the 240GB SSD?

Yes, the 240GB SSD is a 2.5" SATA drive that fits the standard 2.5" bay in this 14.0" laptop.

The 16GB DDR3 is listed at the 16 GB maximum — are both memory slots already filled?

With 16 GB installed and a 16 GB maximum across two slots, both slots are occupied; upgrading means replacing modules rather than adding.

How often should the 240GB SATA SSD be checked for wear or replaced?

A SATA SSD has no moving parts; monitor SMART health annually and replace only if the drive reports errors or capacity loss.
