14-inch FHD business laptop

The Dell Latitude E5450 is a 14.0-inch Full HD laptop built for office work and mobile professionals. It runs on an Intel Core i7-5500U dual-core processor with a base frequency of 2.40 GHz and a turbo frequency of 3.00 GHz. The system includes 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 240GB 2.5-inch SATA SSD. No operating system is installed.

Suits OS-flexible users not touch buyers

This unit suits buyers who want to install their own Windows or Linux distribution on a ready-to-go chassis. It is not for users who require a touchscreen interface or a pre-loaded operating system out of the box. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 handles standard business applications and video playback but is not intended for gaming or heavy 3D workloads.

16 GB maximum memory ceiling

The laptop provides two memory slots and supports a maximum of 16 GB of DDR3 RAM. This ceiling determines whether the machine can handle your planned multitasking or virtualisation workloads. The installed 8 GB configuration leaves one slot free for a straightforward upgrade if your usage demands more headroom.

Questions about this item

Do I need to supply my own operating system for the Latitude E5450?

Yes, the laptop ships with no operating system installed, so you must provide and install Windows or another OS yourself.

Can I keep using my existing DDR3 memory modules with this laptop?

The system uses DDR3 memory and has two slots supporting up to 16 GB total, so compatible DDR3 modules you already own can be reused.

How can I verify the 240 GB SSD is recognised after I install an OS?

After installation, open the disk management utility or BIOS; the drive should appear as a 240 GB SATA SSD with the full capacity available.
