Purpose-built mobile workstation

The Dell Latitude E5470 is a 14.0 inch FHD laptop driven by an Intel Core i7-6820HQ quad-core processor running at 2.70 GHz with a 3.60 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 8GB DDR3 memory and a new 240GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. Windows 10 Home 64-bit is pre-installed for immediate deployment.

Memory and storage boundaries

The system provides two memory slots and supports a maximum of 16 GB DDR3, so the fitted 8 GB can be doubled if workloads demand it. Storage is limited to the single 240GB NVMe drive; no 2.5 inch bay or additional M.2 slot is documented, so capacity cannot be expanded internally beyond that figure.

Graphics ceiling

Integrated Intel HD Graphics 530 drives the 1920 x 1080 non-touch panel, which is adequate for office applications and video playback but not for 3D rendering, CAD or modern gaming titles. Buyers who need discrete GPU performance should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 8 GB DDR3 configuration or upgrade to the 16 GB maximum?

The system ships with 8 GB DDR3 across two slots and supports up to 16 GB total. If you run multiple virtual machines or large spreadsheets, filling both slots to 16 GB will remove the memory bottleneck.

What does the 3.60 GHz turbo frequency mean for everyday workloads?

The Intel Core i7-6820HQ runs at a 2.70 GHz base clock and can boost to 3.60 GHz on fewer cores, giving snappy response in bursty tasks such as compiling code or loading complex web apps.

How does the M.2 NVMe PCIe interface affect the 240 GB SSD in practice?

The PCIe link on the M.2 slot lets the 240 GB drive reach high sequential throughput, so Windows 10 Home boots quickly and large files open with minimal wait.
