Dell Latitude E5470 14" Business Laptop

This Dell Latitude E5470 is a 14.0-inch HD business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-6600U dual-core processor with a turbo frequency of 3.40 GHz. It comes equipped with 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 240GB 2.5" SATA SSD. The unit is sold without an operating system installed.

Suits mobile professionals needing a managed fleet

The 1366 x 768 non-touch display and Intel HD Graphics 520 handle office applications and video conferencing via the integrated webcam. Buyers who need a dedicated graphics processor, a higher resolution panel, or a pre-installed Windows licence should consider other options. The two memory slots support up to 16 GB of RAM for future upgrades.

No Operating System included

The single specification that decides suitability is the absence of an operating system; the purchaser must acquire and install Windows or an alternative OS before the laptop is ready for daily use. A 365 day parts and labour warranty covers the hardware. The 240GB SSD provides solid-state boot and application performance.

Questions about this item

What SATA speed limits the 240GB SSD in this Latitude E5470?

The 2.5-inch SSD connects through a SATA interface, so real-world throughput tops out at the SATA 6 Gbit/s ceiling.

Will a second DDR3 stick fit the two memory slots inside the E5470?

Yes, the board has two SODIMM slots and supports up to 16 GB total, so an additional DDR3 module can be added.

How is the 240GB SATA SSD installed, and what step do people miss?

Remove the bottom cover, slide the 2.5-inch drive into the caddy, secure it with the screws, then reconnect the SATA cable — many forget to re-seat the cable firmly.
