Replacement LCD Back Cover for Latitude E6500

This replacement 15.4 inch LCD back cover lid assembly fits the Dell Latitude E6500 with dual CCFL backlighting. It includes the left and right hinges and wireless antenna wires. The trim bezel is not included. Dell part numbers XX279 and CP219 identify this specific assembly.

Dual CCFL Compatibility Requirement

This assembly only works on Latitude E6500 systems equipped with a dual CCFL backlit LCD screen. It will not fit models that use LED backlighting or a single CCFL backlight. Verifying the part number against the original component is essential before installation.

Upgrades Damaged or Worn Lid Assemblies

The part replaces a cracked, dented or hinge-damaged original lid on the E6500. The upgrade is worthwhile when the screen panel itself remains functional but the chassis or hinges have failed. Buyers needing a complete screen module including the panel or bezel should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Does the 15.4" Dual CCFL back cover add noticeable weight or heat to the Latitude E6500?

The lid assembly is a passive metal and plastic shell with hinges and antenna wires; it has no electronics, so it adds no heat or power draw and its weight is the same as the original cover.

What other parts must I already have to complete the screen repair with this XX279 lid?

You will need the Dual CCFL LCD panel itself, the inverter board, the front bezel trim, and the display cable that matches the 15.4" Dual CCFL configuration.

Will this XX279 cover fit an older Latitude that uses a single CCFL or LED screen?

No — the part is built specifically for the E6500 with a Dual CCFL backlight; the hinge mounting points and antenna routing differ from single-CCFL or LED models.
