Dell Latitude E6500 Red Lid Assembly

This genuine Dell replacement part is a 15.4 inch LCD back cover lid assembly finished in red. It arrives new with left and right hinges and wireless antenna wires already fitted. The unit carries Dell part number F006D and matches the original factory specification for the Latitude E6500 chassis. No trim bezel is included in the package.

Repairers fixing a cracked or damaged red lid

Technicians restoring a Latitude E6500 with a red exterior will find this assembly a direct fit for models equipped with LED or single-CCFL backlit screens. The part is not compatible with systems that use a dual-CCFL backlight, so anyone working on that screen type must source a different lid. Buyers who need the front bezel or a lid in another colour should look elsewhere.

Screen backlight type decides fitment

The single specification that determines whether this assembly will work is the backlight technology inside the existing panel: it fits only LED or single-CCFL configurations. Dual-CCFL models are explicitly excluded by Dell. Verify the screen type or the original part number before ordering to avoid a mismatch.

Questions about this item

How do I fit the RED F006D lid assembly on a Latitude E6500 without damaging the wireless antenna wires?

Route the antenna cables through the hinge channels before tightening the hinge screws; the cables sit in molded grooves that pinch if the hinges are forced closed first.

Which parts of the RED F006D assembly wear out first on a Latitude E6500?

The left and right hinge pivots and the antenna wire insulation degrade with repeated opening cycles; the lid shell itself rarely cracks unless dropped.

What stops the RED F006D lid from fitting a Latitude E6500 with a dual-CCFL screen?

The internal bracket mounting points and cable routing differ on dual-CCFL models, so the hinges and antenna wires cannot align with the chassis screw holes.
