What this laptop is and who it targets

The Dell Latitude E7450 is a 14.0" FHD business laptop running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit on an Intel Core i5-5300U dual-core processor at 2.30 GHz with turbo to 2.90 GHz. It ships with 8GB DDR3 memory and a new 240GB 2.5" SATA SSD. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 drives the 1920 x 1080 non-touch display.

Buyers this suits and buyers who should look

This unit fits mobile professionals needing a lightweight 14" chassis with a Full HD screen and a fresh Windows 10 Pro licence. The dual-core CPU and 8GB RAM handle office suites, email and browser tabs. Buyers who want more storage than 240GB or who need a dedicated GPU for 3D work should look elsewhere.

The spec that decides fit

The 240GB SATA SSD is the limiting factor; only 240GB of solid-state capacity is available out of the box. Two memory slots support up to 16GB total DDR3, so a RAM upgrade is possible if 8GB proves tight.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 8 GB DDR3 configuration or upgrade to the 16 GB maximum?

The system ships with 8 GB DDR3 across two slots and supports up to 16 GB total, so adding another 8 GB module later is straightforward if you need more headroom for multitasking.

What does the 2.30 GHz base and 2.90 GHz turbo mean for everyday workloads?

The dual-core i5-5300U runs at 2.30 GHz normally and can boost to 2.90 GHz for short bursts, giving snappy response in office apps and web browsing while staying cool in the thin chassis.

How does the 2.5" SATA interface affect the 240 GB SSD performance?

The 240 GB SSD connects via a 2.5" SATA link, so sequential reads and writes are limited to the SATA bus ceiling rather than faster PCIe speeds.
