Dell Latitude E7450 14" FHD

The Dell Latitude E7450 is a 14.0-inch business laptop with a 1920 x 1080 FHD non-touch display. It runs on an Intel Core i5-5300U dual-core processor with a base frequency of 2.30 GHz and a turbo frequency of 2.90 GHz. The system includes 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 240GB SATA SSD. It ships with Windows 10 Home 64-bit installed and supports a maximum of 16GB RAM across two slots. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 handles visual output.

Thermals noise and power draw

The ultra-low-voltage Intel Core i5-5300U processor is designed for efficient performance in a thin chassis. Its dual-core architecture and 5th generation design help manage heat output during typical office workloads. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 shares system memory, reducing the need for a separate graphics cooler. The 2.5-inch SATA SSD has no moving parts, contributing to silent operation and lower power consumption compared to a traditional hard drive.

Build fit and expansion

This laptop occupies a compact 14.0-inch footprint suitable for mobile professionals and desk-docking setups. The two memory slots allow an upgrade from the installed 8GB to the supported 16GB maximum using DDR3 modules. The 240GB SSD uses a standard 2.5-inch SATA interface, so storage can be expanded or replaced with another SATA drive. Connectivity includes Bluetooth and a built-in webcam for remote collaboration. The system runs Windows 10 Home 64-bit, with an upgrade path to Windows 11 Pro available separately.

Questions about this item

How do I install a second memory module in the two-slot DDR3 layout?

Remove the base cover, insert the stick at an angle into the empty DDR3 slot until the clips click, then replace the cover.

Which component will need replacement first under daily use?

The 240GB SATA SSD has a finite write endurance and will wear out before the soldered CPU or memory.

What thermal limit appears first during sustained heavy workloads?

The dual-core i5-5300U hits its 2.90 GHz turbo ceiling and then throttles to stay within its thermal envelope.
