Purpose-built mobile workstation

The Dell Latitude E7450 is a 14.0 inch FHD laptop with a 1920 x 1080 non-touch display. It runs on an Intel Core i7-5600U dual-core processor at 2.60 GHz with a 3.20 GHz turbo frequency. The system includes 16GB DDR3 memory and a new 500GB SSD 2.5 SATA drive. It ships without an operating system.

Upgrade from older Latitude or dual-core ultrabook

This unit replaces machines limited to 8GB soldered RAM or mechanical hard drives. The jump is worth it when you need the full 16GB DDR3 ceiling and a fresh 500GB solid-state drive for faster boot and application load. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 handles office and light creative tasks. Buyers who want more storage or a discrete GPU should look elsewhere.

Straightforward deployment with one caveat

The 500GB SSD and 16GB DDR3 are already installed, so hardware setup is minimal. You must provide and install your own operating system before the laptop is usable. The two memory slots are both populated at the 16GB maximum, leaving no room for expansion. Verify your OS licence and drivers for the Intel HD Graphics 5500 beforehand.

Questions about this item

Does the 14.0 inch chassis use a 2.5 inch SATA drive bay for the 500GB SSD?

The 500GB SSD is a 2.5 inch SATA drive, so it occupies the standard 2.5 inch bay inside the 14.0 inch chassis.

What is the correct order to seat the two DDR3 modules so the 16GB total is recognised?

Insert each DDR3 module at an angle into the two memory slots, then press down firmly until the side clips click into place.

When should the 500GB SATA SSD be replaced to avoid wear-related failure?

Replace the 500GB SATA SSD once its SMART health indicators show high reallocated-sector counts or after the 365 day warranty period ends.
