14 inch FHD Latitude laptop

The Dell Latitude E7470 is a 14.0 inch Full HD laptop driven by an Intel Core i7-6650U dual-core processor with a 2.20 GHz base frequency and a 3.40 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 8GB of DDR4 memory and a new 128GB 2.5 inch SATA SSD. No operating system is installed.

Who this suits and who it does not

This system suits buyers who need a compact business-class notebook with a 1920 x 1080 non-touch display and integrated Intel Iris Graphics 540. It does not suit buyers who want more storage than 128GB, builders who need a second drive bay, or users who require a pre-installed operating system.

The specification that decides fit

The single specification that decides fit is the 128GB SATA SSD capacity; the machine supports up to 16GB of memory across two slots, but the installed drive size is fixed at 128GB unless the buyer replaces it.

Questions about this item

How do I install an operating system on a laptop that ships with no OS?

Create a bootable USB installer for Windows or Linux, enter the BIOS boot menu at startup, select the USB drive, and follow the on-screen setup to install the OS onto the 128GB SATA SSD.

What memory upgrades are possible later on this model?

The system has two DDR4 slots supporting up to 16GB total; you can add or replace modules to reach that maximum.

At what point does thermal throttling limit the i7-6650U during sustained loads?

The dual-core processor reaches its 3.40 GHz turbo frequency under load, but sustained workloads will trigger thermal limits that reduce clocks to maintain safe temperatures.
