Dell Latitude E7470 14 FHD laptop

The Dell Latitude E7470 is a 14.0 inch FHD laptop with a 1920 x 1080 non-touch display. It runs on an Intel Core i5-6300U dual-core processor with a base frequency of 2.40 GHz and a turbo frequency of 3.00 GHz. The system includes 16GB of DDR4 memory and a new 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. No operating system is installed.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This laptop suits buyers who need a compact 14 inch business notebook with a high-resolution screen and fast solid-state storage. It is not for users who require a touchscreen interface or a pre-installed operating system. Buyers who want more memory than the 16GB maximum supported should consider other options.

The specification that decides fit

The single specification that decides fit is the 16GB maximum memory supported by the two DDR4 slots. If your workload demands more than 16GB of RAM, this model cannot be upgraded further.

Questions about this item

Can I add more RAM later, or is the 16 GB DDR4 already at the maximum?

The board has two slots and the maximum supported memory is 16 GB, so the installed 16 GB DDR4 already reaches that limit and cannot be expanded further.

What will throttle first when the Intel Core i5-6300U runs at its 3.00 GHz turbo for a long period?

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 shares the same thermal budget as the CPU, so sustained turbo loads will hit the package thermal limit and reduce clocks before any other component becomes the bottleneck.

How loud and hot does the chassis get when the 14.0" FHD panel and 1 TB NVMe drive are active all day?

The dual-core 2.40 GHz processor and integrated graphics keep heat output modest; the single fan typically stays at low RPM, so surface temperatures remain comfortable and noise stays at a quiet office level.
